Oil Kings move into the WHL regular season on a high note

Lacombe - The Edmonton Oil Kings concluded the Western Hockey League pre-season with a 2-1 overtime win against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday.

Stephane Legault notched the first goal of the game for the Oil Kings early in the first period, only to have Rebels Colten Mayor tie the game at 1-1 late in the second.

Edmonton?s Dysin Mayo fired in the game-winning goal late in the third on a power play.

The Oil Kings will face off against the Kootenay Ice for their WHL season opener at Rexall Place on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
