Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (2 positions ...

Job Summary:? The Department of Public Policy (DPP) at the University of Connecticut seeks to fill two tenure track positions at the rank of Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.? DPP is home to the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program (MPA), the on-line Graduate Program in Survey Research (GPSR), and three graduate certificate programs.? The Department is also the home to the University of Connecticut?s Nonprofit Leadership Program.

The Department of Public Policy is located on the University of Connecticut?s Greater Hartford Campus in West Hartford, Connecticut. The University of Connecticut is a premier research institution?designated as a Research University/Very High research activity by the Carnegie Foundation. The Department of Public Policy has 10 permanent (plus adjunct) faculty. ?There are approximately 100 enrolled graduate students in the department.

1. Public and nonprofit management. ?This position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level.? Preference will be given to candidates who have research interests in evaluation of nonprofit programs; fiscal health or financial management of nonprofit organizations; economics of philanthropy and charitable giving; and/or social entrepreneurship.

2. Public policy and program evaluation.? This position is rank open. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in the analysis or evaluation of social or education programs. Demonstration of potential for success in obtaining external research support is also preferred.

The successful candidates? primary teaching assignments will be to offer core and elective classes in the MPA program. The specific teaching assignment will be determined based on the abilities and interests of the candidate and the needs of the Department and might include graduate or undergraduate classes at the Greater Hartford Campus or the main campus in Storrs. Duties include research, teaching and service to the Department and University.

Qualifications:?

Minimum Qualifications:?? An earned Ph.D. in public administration, public policy, economics, political science, sociology, or related field. ?Candidates must have a record of, or potential for, scholarly excellence based on rigorous social science research methods. ?Successful applicants must complete all requirements for the Ph.D. prior to start date to be considered for the Assistant Professor level.? Applicants with advanced ABD?s will be considered at the Instructor level until their Ph.D. requirements are completed.? Current Assistant Professors are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:? Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated teaching excellence, superior communication skills, and are comfortable with a wide array of analytical methods.? Candidates who contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience are preferred.

Appointment Terms:? Salaries are very competitive.? Rank and salary are based on qualifications and experience.
